AUGUSTA, Ga.
– As the Ashes series between Australia and England heads to Adelaide, there’s been a lot of cricket-watching at the home of the Ashes and the Ashes team.
There was a game of cricket at the Oval and a game in the garden at St Vincent’s, and a match in the backyard at the St Vincent Hotel.
And, while there was plenty of cricket going on at St. Vincent’s on Sunday night, it’s likely that the most cricket watching was going on in the Melbourne home of Victoria’s cricket team, which was dominated by Victoria’s men.
Victoria’s captain, Jake White, was a big fan of England’s opener Nick Compton, and White was very keen to watch Compton’s innings.
“He’s a great batsman and he’ll be in a good position to take advantage of what’s ahead of him,” White said.
He was also keen to get a look at Compton’s second-innings partnership with James Pattinson, who was on the front foot on Sunday and was batting hard.
Victoria’s batting line-up had five wickets in the first innings of the match, and two more in the second.
White was one of the players who watched Compton’s first-inning partnership with Pattinson.
“We’re going to be doing a bit of work with James, and it’s a little bit different to what we’ve been doing in the past,” White explained.
“We’re working a bit harder in the middle of the game, but we’re not doing a lot.
It’s something that he’ll take on, and hopefully he’ll make a lot more of the runs in this one.
White said that, as the Ashes progresses, he would like to see Compton and Pattinson play together more, as it would be “a great partnership for the game”.”
We can be pretty aggressive in terms of our partnerships and how we play the game,” White added.
Pattinson and Compton have been playing together for some time, and have enjoyed a successful partnership in the one-day game.
White said that while he didn’t have a “full-time” partnership with Compton, he did have a couple of chats with the pair about playing together.
When asked if he had any interest in playing for Australia again, White said he was very much looking forward to the Ashes.”
I’m a big believer in doing the right thing and doing the things that you’re supposed to do to get the job done, and I’m just looking forward for it to be over with, but hopefully the team can do the right things to take it back to where we want to be,” White concluded.
